Overload capacity of the MultiPlus-II 3000 when exporting to the grid in ESS mode 3

Hi everyone,

My understanding is that the continuous power rating of the MultiPlus-II 3000 is 2400W (at 25C), but it is also possible to overload the unit to about 3000W for a short period of time (under 30 minutes).

Is this overload capacity able to be accessed with a grid setpoint in ESS mode 3 when the unit is connected to the grid? That is, is it possible to export or import energy to the grid at a rate greater than the continuous power rating for short periods of time? I have tried sending 3000W grid setpoints to the unit via Modbus-TCP, but it only ever seems to reach 2400W, which is its continuous rating.

It seems the MultiPlus-II will not exceed its continuous power rating when grid-connected in ESS mode 3. Is this regular behaviour? Is there an option in VE Configure (or otherwise) to allow the grid setpoint to exceed the continuous power rating of the unit? Are there are more low-level protocols that would allow this?

Cheers,

Tom.

Hi @Tom Nolan,

There is no option accessible via software to force a Multi into overload.

You will see the overload power delivery occasionally when large loads, or large supplies (AC PV inverters) are turned on or off suddenly.
