I have a Victron Multiplus C 12/2000/80. Will it damage the device if I use 230V without a 12V battery connected?

Not exactly, but it will not operate reliably, and is designed to operate with a battery connected.
You will almost certainly receive error messages (such as DC ripple, DC voltage too high, and DC voltage too low).
Thanks for the quick reply and according to your answer it is not sure it will be a problem? It is in a motorhome and the starter battery and the living room battery are connected when they are fully charged. When the connection living room battery is broken then, maybe the Multiple will get voltage on the 12V side and not give error messages?
