Is it ok to hook 2 inverters each take on (first) 24v and (second) 24v in a 48v battery bank? The two will combine to create a 240v split phase.
That would not be a good idea at all. Please do not do this.
The two 120V phases would never be perfectly balanced and the inverter with more load than the other would drain its half of the battery quicker than the other inverter which would result in an unbalanced battery pack.
The inverter which is connected on the high half of the battery (the one connected between the middle and positive end of the 48V bank) will not have its negative referenced to the same level as the low side inverter. The high inverter's negative will be referenced 24V higher than the low side inverter.
With that in mind, the VE.Bus port would be damaged when you connect the two inverters with the RJ45 cable because one will be 24V higher than the other port.
The better way will be to configure the battery bank as 24V and then connect the two 24V inverters in parallel over the 24V battery bank.
