SmartSolar MPPT 100/20-48V Voltage confusion

Hi

I'm looking at a new solar charge controller for my cabin, but I'm confused. I'm looking at the SmartSolar MPPT 100/20-48v, I currently have a 24V system, but would like to be prepared in case I upgrade to 48V next time I replace the battery bank. The 100/20-48V seems perfect for this as this datasheet states that it is compatible with 12, 24 and 48V:

However, this datasheet states that it's only compatible with 48V:

What is correct? Why does the regular 12/24V 100/20 even exist if the 100/20-48 covers all three voltages?

Please unconfuse me :)

Hi,

Its been a bit hard to explain. Here is a snippet from the accompanying news update:

To reduce part numbers we're phasing out the BlueSolar/SmartSolar MPPT Charge Controller 100/20 (for 12/24V). They are replaced by the (formerly more expensive) special BlueSolar/SmartSolar MPPT Charge Controller 100/20-48V, which also works for 12 & 24V, and always has worked for them. In production, we changed the default software setting: it used to be preselected for 48V, now it’s on auto-detect, like all other solar chargers. The load output is rated for, and protected at-, the full 20A. Just like the phased-out model was. And at 48V it’s still 1A.

To summarise: no changes to load output behaviour. And also no other changes. The only change is that there are now two 100/20 models (the SmartSolar- and BlueSolar variants), suitable for all voltages, instead of 4 models as before.

The datasheets have been updated to reflect all the above.

So @Asbjoern85, you can safely buy that model. That screenshot from a dealer or distributors website is out of date.

The 100/20 comes in two variants: 12/24V and 48V

If you want something to handle all 3 voltages, you want the 150/35

You are right, there are some discrepancies between different manuals/datasheets.
The demo library of VictronConnect also shows that the 100/20_48 can handle 12/24/36/48V.
But as you already wrote, it would not make sense to have a 100/20 that only works with 12/24V and one that works with 12/24/48V.

I will forward it to the devs.
