Sort of, though not really encouraged.
I have just enabled a feature that allows a private comment to be left JUST for the original poster of the question, and not be visible to other users.
You will need to start a comment, (but not an answer). Then select the 'viewable by' and then 'original poster'.
This isn't ideal or exactly what you wanted and definitely won't work for chat, but enough to give them your email address or something and ask them to contact you off site without it being public.
