What causes DC ripple, and what you can do about it, is explained really well in chapter 2.6 on page 12 of Wiring Unlimited.
Also important on new lithium batteries is to give the system time to balance properly. This is done by a long, slow, low continuous charging current up to the target charge voltage, and holding it there. The longer, and slower that this happens for initially, the better.
