ESS in battery discharge mode- how does it work?

HI

I'm curious to know how the ESS system actually functions. I can understand how it charges batteries from the AC side using excess solar and grid power; What I cant quite understand is how it produces AC from the DC batteries in "discharge" mode, since the grid is still connected.

Does it have to therefore synchronize with the grid voltage and frequency before discharging the batteries? If so, how does it do that? Or does the charger go into a kind of "reverse" mode?

Any pointers most welcome

Hi @Lazza

The inverter in the MultiPlus works bidirectionally so that it can generate both direct current from alternating current and alternating current to direct current.
I think that was asked?

Hi. Thanks, but that's not quite what I mean. I'm curious on how it synchronises with the grid...
