MPPT battery voltage choice in system design

For MPPT controllers that auto-senses battery voltage (12/24/48)...

Is there any disadvantage to 12v (parallel)? For example, is there an efficiency loss within the controller?

Within the controller? Not that i have noticed.

What is do see is wiring on 12v systems is more expensive as you are dealing with higher amperage (if you have demanding energy needs).

You tend to loose more in the wiring due to heat. You need higher amperage charge controllers too. Again i am referring to the higher consumers.

If you are using 1-3 kWh of energy in a day 12v is fine.

After the initial auto sense it is best to set the system voltage in settings.
