Quattro firmware issues- charge load imbalances in multi phase systems

We have 3ph 15kW quattros systems running off Generators to charge battery storage.

Currently 3 and 6 inverter 3ph systems.

It has been found that the firmware does not evenly distribute the load when ramping up charge current. The quattros currently have firmware version ...510.vff.

The system when started up currently loads up one phase at a time until it has reached its AC or DC limit. This results in badly unbalance phase loads on the Generator which in turn results in cycling of the charge load On and Off. the only ways found to reduce this is to turn down the maximum charge current or add external output loads. Even with this extra load added it is clear that the charge management in firmware is not attempting or succeeding to balance the either the charge loads or the loads on the input supply - this still (less often) results in charge cycling.

1.The charge loads need to be applied in small increments across all phases to maintain a balanced load on multi phased generators.

2. The Load management needs to also look at external loads and adjust the Charge Currents from each phase to balance the the total loads on each phase, as well as limiting the maximum total charge current. ie reduce charge on the phase with the highest total loads and increase Charge current on the Phase with the lowest total loads. You will also need to dampen these controls a bit for stable operation to filter out surge loads. ie (compressor starts)

If this is managed from the GX firmware then this will need to be updated instead.

@Fantail

Are these systems using ESS?

Do you have weak AC enabled or dynamic current limiter?

Is the input current limit of the system allowing for generator derating at your altitude?

These are not ESS systems - weak AC and dynamic current limiter are enabled

while I m now considering ESS - there are no energy meters and the generator stop/start should be all i need to manage the system as -- generator starts at 40% SOC and stops at 95% then starts again at 40% etc.

The basic system has no Grid mains and no PV. It is only a generator and batteries and inverters. The generators are being used close to sea level.

The issue is the badly unbalanced loads being applied to the generator when charging ramps up. On smaller 3ph system we have had to limit charge current to a 3rd of rated capacity, on the larger system we are just reaching 50% of rated charge currents possible.

Have confirmed that ESS should not be used with generators

also you can deduce the individual phase charge currents by subtracting the AC output from the AC input as logged on VRM

These phase charge values are not logged on VRM. ( should be )

You can see issue if you watch the loads being applied on the GX screen and how they jump around.

Have video of issue but unable to send as to large.

and for those wondering the GX firmware used is 3.41 on both MK2 and EkranoGX
