Planning to use a SmartSolar MPPT RS 450|100 on 12 panels 420w SunPower 66 cell panels. Plan to do 2 strings to the two different MPPTs.
Questions
- NEC / Rapid shutdown - I need this for compliance and seems the likely solve here is Tigo TS4-A-S which does monitoring + rapid shutdown (NO optimization like the O model does). This lets me see panel level details of monitoring + rapid shutdown. Should work perfectly fine with the Victron Charge controller's MPPT. Basically will have the TS4's behind panels, TAP (Wireless AP), and CloudController for this too.
- SMA or others worth considering?
- Panel Wiring - My thought is the charge controller has 2 trackers/mppt and was going to do 2 strings and one to each. 6 panels in series is 314.2 Voc / 206.99 Vmp. Outside additional wiring / voltage drop/cost/etc. Knowing there could be shading on one of the strings, I assume the above is the best scenario vs doing a combiner box and only utilizing 1 of the MPPTs, right?
