Twin Outboard Setup

I recently purchase a new boat that came partially wired. All house electronics were wired but because I had it shipped internationally there were no batteries. It has all of the basic electronic set up but has a 220V AC and electric grill. The boat is powered by 2 - 250hp Yamaha engines. I am looking to find a good design that makes everything work (without running the back up generator).

The boat has

2- 100W solar panels

1 - 5Kw 220V generator

1- 3000W 220V inverter

2 -12V 280AH 4D batteries (soon to be upgraded to 4 - 12V-320AH LifePO4 batteries)

I would like to start small with protecting the boat and not running the batteries down. The current setup has two switches. The first switch is a 1-2-12-off switch with everything connected (except 1 bilge pump that is connect to the other battery) directly to the battery since there is no bus or distribution bar. The second switch is connected the the second the the first switch. Essentially both engines always have power connected. I am essentially starting from scratch and want to put in a Lynx distributor on both sides and have everything (with the exception of the bilge pumps connect to them.

I am looking for help with the basic design that isolates with switches and protected with fused distribution bar. The second part is the more complex to build out so that I can run the AC and electric grill from the on board power systems (batteries, solar, and engines).

Thanks in advance ~

Hi @piratesmile

It's really difficult to help out with this as there are many ways to actually do it. There's a mass of example schematics on the Victron website. You might find some that are close to what you intend to finish up with, and can be modified to suit. Try searching under 'Orion', as these are often used in such systems.

Your "4 - 12V-320AH LifePO4 batteries" is a lot of battery if you're going to use at 12V. Massive charge requirements, and your first real issue is how you'll deal with that?? Take your time with this, as there's more to the design than you might think. Face-to-face with a Victron dealer or installer is always recommended.
