Orion Tr-Smart DC-DC converter and Charger modes simultaneously?

May seem obvious, but to me it's not clear. If I am charging my auxiliary battery can I, in parallel, power my accessory, in this case a small 12V refrigerator with compressor? It seems from the manual that you can only be in either DC-DC converter mode or Charger mode, but not both at the same time. If I cannot be in both then I assume I would need operate in Charger mode and to have a relay to switch accessory supply between vehicle battery whilst the engine is running and the auxiliary battery when it's not? Thanks for any pointers, much appreciated.

@Sminky Pinky

I assume this is a 12-12 volt one. My answer will be very different if it is not.

As a charger there are three stages to its operation. Bulk/abs and float. Great if you want to take care of a battery.

As a converter one constant voltage output. - great if running from a battery direct to loads. (Not great for taking care of a battery.) But that being said necessary if you have 24v on one side and 12v on the other side.

The 12v system will run off a 12v auxiliary battery whose voltage is varying (11 to 14v). So keep it as a charger. And then let the aux battery cycle and charge up when the engine is running.
