smartshunt with 2 batteries

hi,

I have a starter AGM battery and an additional Bord LiPo4 battery in my van ... both are integrated with a DC/DC booster

now I bought a smart shunt and do not fully understand what is described in the manual under the dual battery setup ...

does this mean that:

* I get 2 distinct set of measures for both batteries ? ( twice SOC, vtage,etc...)

* or just for one ?

Thanx

You get a full set of measurments of the battery that has the negative pole connected directly to the shunt, and optionally you can measure a second batteries voltage, but voltage only. You can use that second input also to measure battery temperatur using a special probe or the midpoint of a 24V system

@gkathan No, you can optionally choose to only measure the voltage of second battery or temperature or midpoint.

but it is also possible to only monitor my first battery ( starter) as the second one ready has an integrated Bluetooth BMS ?

So your goal is to install the shunt to monitor the starter battery for both voltage and consumption? Then it needs to be in the negative path of the starter battery, everything that is currently connected to the negative terminal of the battery needs to be connected to the system/load terminal of the shunt, then a new cable is installed between the battery negative and the shunts battery terminal. Finally, use one of the supplied wires with a fuse to connect the shunt to the starter battery positive

ok thaanx for the reply ... just to make sure whether I got I correctly:

* so I need to unmount all the negative connections (marked in green) from my starter battery and mount it on the "load minus" on the shunt (not sure whether these fat wire clamps will fit on the shunt M10 screw)

* connect the battery minus with a new cable with the "battery minus" on the shunt

* and connect the red plus cable from shunt with plus from battery (fused Connection ... how many amps?)

Thanx in advance

Thats correct. The shunt should come with small red cables including fuses, no? If not, 1A is enough, its just to power the shunts electronics and to measure the voltage
