I need some help with wiring on a boat.
I have ordered the following Victron components:
- SOLARPANEL 55W SUNBEAM TOUGH BL
- LITHIUM VICTRON SUPERPACK 100AH
- VICTRON SMART BATTERY SENSE
- SMARTSOLAR MPPT 75/15
- ORION DC-DC CHARGER 12/12-30A
Currently, the boat has a 12V 75Ah lead-acid battery connected to the engine, a Mercury Optimax 75 hp. The engine's alternator is 12V/50A.
My goal is to use the lead-acid battery solely for the engine as a starting battery.
I want the lithium battery to power all other consumers: trim tabs, cooler, lights, plotter, etc.
I also want both the engine’s alternator and the solar panels to charge both batteries, prioritizing the starting battery.
Additionally, it would be ideal if I could start the engine with the lithium battery or charge the lead-acid battery from the lithium battery if needed.
Have I ordered the right components? I would also like to be able to add a socket for charging with 220V easily. I haven't purchased anything for this yet.
Here's my planned installation:
Solar panel to MPPT charger:
- Connect the solar panel to the input of the MPPT charger.
- Connect the output of the MPPT charger to the lead-acid battery.
Engine to lead-acid battery:
- Connect the engine's alternator directly to the lead-acid battery.
Lead-acid battery to lithium battery via DC-DC charger:
- Connect the positive and negative terminals of the lead-acid battery to the input of the DC-DC charger.
- Connect the output of the DC-DC charger to the lithium battery.
What cables and switches do I need to buy? Both batteries and all parts will be mounted in the same box, so the distances are short.
Will this setup work, and when the boat is stationary and the solar panels are charging, will it switch to the lithium battery once the lead-acid battery is full?
