How do I get my SmartShunt and SmartSolar to connect to Android?

I have both a SmartShunt and SmartSolar MPPT on my boat. I can get both to connect to my wife's iPhone using the default PIN code of 0000. But, neither of the devices will connect to my Android Phone (OnePlus 12) or Android Tablet (Samsung). The phone is new but the tablet is 4 years old. Both the phone and tablet "see" the shunt and mppt as available devices with which to pair, but connection goes to about 80% and then fails every time. Once they connected to my wife's iPhone they both updated their software, but the update did not help create an Android connection. I also have a Vesper Cortex AIS installed and that is refusing to connect to everything I try, whether Apple or Android.

The default pairing code is 000000, but newer devices may have their initial code printed on the product label, either on the side or back of the device.

I know the default code is 000000 but my phone (or the app) suggested using 0000 or 1234 as default codes. For some reason 0000 worked with the iPhone. None of the options have worked with the Android devices. The only codes on the labels are the Serial number, Product number, or PUK number.

0000 or 1234 are the default suggestions from the phone.

Take a look at the manual:

There is also a troubleshooting section.

Yes, I looked through the entire troubleshooting section and found nothing that enabled me to connect.

@jkg3 I assume you have VictronConnect installed? Common mistake is to try and pair it in Android as opposed to through VictronConnect. Unpair and forget the MPPT etc. and also disable then enable bluetooth for good measure. Now open VictronConnect and when you see the device open it and enter pascode when asked. I also believe in Android you may have to enable location for it to work.

Yes, everything was done through Victron Connect. Android devices were unpaired from all other bluetooth devices, and were rebooted as well. I'll check that Location is enabled, but I'm pretty sure it must already be, as I use Navionics on both.

Does anyone from Victron ever monitor the questions on this forum? Their "service" strategy seems to be to defer all technical questions to their dealers, who have no answers, and then let customers ask one another for advice.

This is not a official support channel.

Can you please make some screenshots and create a service report?

On some phones you don't get the window to enter the PIN automatically.
You might just get a notification in the top status bar and you have to "pull it down".

Thanks for responding. When I get back to the boat I'll take some screenshots of what happens but I can describe it here as well. When I open Victron Connect I get a Device List screen that shows both the SmartShunt and SmartSolar devices. When I select either one of them my phone immediately tries to connect, without requesting a PIN, and a blue progress bar shows connection proceeding up to 80% at which point a pop-up screen appears asking for the PIN. Any PIN I enter from any Android device (0000, 000000, 1234) fails to advance the connection past 80% and I get a message saying connection failed. I do not see any specific PIN on a label on either device, so I assume that only the default PIN (000000, or 0000) is applicable. The only label I see on the shunt has 3 codes on it... SN, PN, and PUK. The MPPT is installed deep in the locker so most of it can't be seen without completely uninstalling it.
