ComAp InteliLite4 AMF25 can't be detected after upgrading firmware

Hi there :)

After upgrading ComAp InteliLite4 AMF25 firmware to the latest version - 1.6.0.49 (from 1.5.2.1), Cerbo GX can't detect it anymore - it shows as "Not connected" in Remote console.

We have several mobile operator sites powered by solar panels (MPPT RS and MultiPlus II) and diesel generators which must be online 24/7, without any interruptions.

We are kindly asking for your help.

Hi all, Philipp from Victron here. @cika8 provided me access to his system and I was able to analyse the issue and apply a temporary fix. For anyone who comes across this thread, here's some context:

The issue that Venus OS v3.40 was no longer able to connect to the controller after the firmware update was caused by the ComAp firmware update. Unfortunately, ComAp does not (yet) provide a stable Modbus specification, registers and interface behaviour happen to change between firmware versions. That’s the cause for the necessary manual register mapping and also occurring communication issues, like this one.

To prevent these connectivity issues with ComAp controllers in the future, we developed a workaround, which is included in Venus OS v3.50~7. And it did its job in this case, re-establishing the communication with the controller. Then v3.50~7 also introduced a new bug, which is something that can happen with such early beta versions. ButWe are already aware of it and it will be fixed in a future beta release.

The good news: The connectivity improvements we developed for ComAp controllers will also get available soon in the v3.40 branch, probably with v3.42. We are also in contact with ComAp to further improve overall compatibility. Still, I would always recommend testing such firmware changes, ComAp as well as Venus OS, in a secure environment before they happen on production systems.

Edit: v3.50~8 is out, which resolves all described issues in the v3.50 beta release.

Problem is fixed after upgrading Venus OS from 3.40 to 3.50 beta 7. :)

Update 2:

New problem appeared...
Now Cerbo GX can't start generator remotely. It shows an error (screenshot below): Control error code: #2 Generator in fault condition.

Generator can be started via InteliConfig application and there isn't any reported error. It runs every day (about 2 hours) without any problems so far.

Do you use any hybrid options on the InteliLite? v1.6.0 introduced some new features to hybrid, comaps new feature list shows the changes

I just upgraded firmware, no additional options are used.

Check that the registers for engine state and controller mode are still the same

I had issues before with user defined modbus adress ranges changing from one firmware to the next, its possible that comap changed the adresses of some of the registers.

Ive only found v1.3.2 in my archives, hopefully you still have v1.5.2. Would be relatively easy to downgrade and try if that solves the issue

I checked registers already, but couldn't see the change in ComAp mapping (or I've missed something).
Tried with downgrade, but in InteliConfig app it shows that is impossible on the way I can only remotely do it - see screenshot below

As mentioned above, Philipp applied patch and fixed issue.
