My 50 RV coach system is set up so that the 12kw generator feeds 2 hot legs, each 180° out of phase (L1-L2). System works great. When I get to campgrounds, often, but not always the shore power will not work. I suspect that when the inverters will not work, the shore power is 2 legs of a 3 phase Y transformer feeding the panel, as is typical in many sites. Answer 1 seems to be to change from 180° L2 to 120° L2 but... It could be 240° L2 depending on the phase rotation of how the shore panel is supplied from the transformer distribution. Since I use passthrough every time I swap from 180° to 120°/240° I lose power to the coach and... all the clocks, DTV receiver HDD and other devices that are expecting constant power get cut off :(.
I cannot believe I am the only one with this issue. hopefully some can share their thoughts and help make this a cleaner, less PITA situation a few times each week. (just FYI - this question is not about using a single leg of 30A or similar, only applicable to when the shore is 50+50)
Thanks!
