Can I connect 2 different brand batteries to the new Cerbo GX?

I have existing 12 of Dyness B4850 batteries connected to a Cerbo GX that are working well. I’m toying with the idea of expanding my battery bank but would like to go to a different battery using the new JK inverter BMS. If I change my existing Cerbo GX to the newer version with the isolated VE.Can would I be able to have both different brand BMSs connected at the same time?

You can already do that. It doesn’t need a dedicated bus, it can go on the existing one, properly terminated. The system will only use one as a reference though, the other will only provide visibility for reporting via widgets etc.

Thanks, I’m just a little hesitant to connect different brands together after having a problem previously. I’ll do some testing.

It is unsupported, but people do it. Most battery manufacturers will have a warranty issue with it as well, so worth checking.

If the batteries have the same charging properties, then it is better to disconnect the BMS and rather use an old-school shunt.
