I have two Skylla-i’s in parallel connected to a VenusGX with CAN-bus with a third party BMS and LFP batteries. I wish to either control the current limit of the charger or be able to turn it on and off as needed and without annoying VRM low voltage alarms on every cycle
I’ve reviewed the doc and they only provide clues to how to do this.
In VE.Can-registers-public.pdf, it states:
Some charger models have physical switches to control the charging algorithm, for these models the vregs can only be queried to find the actual settings (e.g. the Skylla-i charger has a rotary switch and dip switches, when the rotary is set to any position other than CAN control most of the vregs will be read-only).
There is no rotary switch position in the manual for CAN control. Position 0 says do not use and position 8 seems most promising but says adjustment is only via potentiometers: "Adjustable: maximum charge current and absorption and float voltages can be set with potentiometers."
In the Skylla-i manual, it states:
A Lynx Ion can be connected to the Skylla-i charger directly via the VE.CAN-bus, the “allow-to-charge” condition will be communicated via the VE.CAN-bus automatically, no separate wiring is required.
This suggests that there is indeed a PGN for “allow-to-charge” that can be set as an input to the charger. I’m getting closer.
In the Technical-Information-Data-communication-with-Victron-Energy-products_EN.pdf, it shows that the Skylla-i supports only the following PGNs.
The first three are probably read only. The Relay and alarms is promising if I can disable the low voltage alarm which is incorrectly triggered every time the charger is started as others have complained. Charger State might be used to turn the charger off as the GX panel can do that. Likewise, AC input limit can also be set by the Skylla-i GX control Panel. The rest are deprecated.
Some chargers have a DC load output capability but I can't find out if the Skylla-i 100 1+1 has it. The first three VREGS look promising, but how can I write them?
Can you please provide guidance or suggestions for how I can control my Skylla-i to either remotely turn it on and off without alarms or preferably set the allow to charge register.
Thanks
