We have built a 660 AH Victron Lynx Smart BMS system to provide energy storage for our blue water cruising boat following John Harries. We have a small AGM for engine start maintained by an Orion. A second AGM bank serves as Get Home powering all mission critical systems, also maintained by another Orion. The GenMaxx250 A alternator normally directly charges the Lynx Distributor under Cerbo white space control via a Wakespeed 500 regulator. Smart Cerbo MPPT solar is fed in via a Smart Battery Protect with BMS ATC safeguard.
Our loads pass thru a second Smart Battery Protect also under BMS ATD control.
The question is best Victron practice design for our Gei Home charging of the AGMs should the BMS/LFP system be disabled. Can we cross connect the AGMs to the Distribution bus with the alternator input by closing a switch connecting the In and Out of the Smart Battery Protect without damaging the Protect?
