3-phase ESS setpoint problem - never encountered before

Dear community,

Today we have commissioned a 3phase system with 3x Multi-II 3000VA (fw v. 510), Gx version 3.32. External ET340 to measure grid.

L1 phase always draws power from grid - like if ESS is not working but only on L1. Please see the picture.

When I change Ess setpoint from +30W to -1000W, then L2 and 3 works as one would expect and L1 always draws everything from grid.

I tried:

1) inverter metering only

2) fw flash with ve flash and new configuration

Thank you for hints and support. Much appreciated.img-1802.png

How is your multiphase regulation set In remote console under ESS settings?

It is individual phase regulation - I double checked now.

Ok Try total off all phases then, thats the most common/normal setup

Ok, I did change that. For the Czech Republic we only use individual. However, with total, behaviour seems the same. Still the grid setpoint is not even nearly satisfied with quite high import from the grid.img-1808.png

It will never be even, but with negative setpoint it should supply loads from PV first, second battery and third grid (if ess is setup right)

Yes, yes. Correct. It is not my case however :-( Please see now. Grid Setpoint +30W, grid feed in disabled, solar is sufficient for loads and charging battery - and yet grid import = all consumption on L1. Very strange.img-1812.png

To me your picture looks normal..

PV is 444W, charging is 118W, load is 501W

So grid is supporting 175W plus inverter supply/losses in your picture (hence the 190W)

Inverters are balancing grid between L1, L2 and L3 for the load

This is, how normal system with 30W setpoint looks like - please see attached. Problem is that even with 1 kW load on L1 we still get approx. 1kW grid import - so this can’t be blamed on losses :-(

Thank you for supportimg-1813.jpeg

Hello Duivert @Duivert NL , this issue is still not resolved. We changed the problematic inverter today with no luck. ESS on L1 is not working. Our distributor recommended to change it. Could someone from the company check the system? I have commissioned a lot but this is really a riddle.

Thank you!

Yes, but it is a different site. Not the one with problems :-/

Dear Victron friends,

@Lucian Popescu (Victron Energy Staff) @Guy Stewart (Victron Community Manager), I think this would be worth checking from your side as well. VRM ID: c0619ab5280f

After Cerbo GX,multi and ET340 replacement, still not resolved :-( and ESS not working (only on L1). Very frustrating.

Your help is much appreciated.

Best regards

-Robert

I saw that behavior when the order of the phases is not the same on the meter as on the inverters.

Thats a good one Lucian, could be the issue, was also trying to help but was out of options, didnt think of that

You can also try to check it remotely, by looking at the voltages measured by each side (multi/meter) for each phase. If you are lucky and there are differences in voltages/phases, you should see them both sides.

That is a good point. Unfortunatelly, this is what we have actually ruled out by testing it as follows:

- we did disconnect the ET340 and tried inverter/charger only metering, behaviour was exactly the same :-(

In inverter metering mode, if L1-2-3 order is correct on input, then order on output does not matter (for metering, of course not for 3ph appliances).

can you disable remote console password?

yes, done. Thank you

I wrote you an email. Please leave the system as it is, so we can check it. I have enabled the large image for VenusOS. FYI, I alos added some info and configs on the dashboard, just to easier see how each inverter is reacting. I'll keep you posted.

For everyone who might struggle with the same issue, as I did - please see below.

Please, double check your AUX 1 digital input configuration. If wired, check if Disable grid feed-in is enabled (In grid settings of Ve.Config). If yes, you might have this function triggered.

In our case, we accidentally switched NO relay with NC relay.

Thank you Victron team for support.
