SmartShunt IP65 500A Trends false/missing data

screenshot-1.jpgI have a 500A Shunt with latest firmware V4.16 and V2.50. I have noticed like its losing data points that were once before. And now I am seeing ghosting of data. The chart showing part of same data for two days. Why does this happen, how to fix?

How accurate/reliable is the data in Trends?

Hi @flywheelz

Next time that you see this happening, can you please make a service report (https://ve3.nl/VictronConnect_How-to-create-a-VictronConnect-Service-Report) directly after you have connected to the SmartShunt and see it happen in the trends menu. Then please post the service report in a comment or answer? This allows us to look into the data.

Kind regards,

This looks like fully charged batteries, light loads and topping up when necessary. There's no missing data. Are you using lithium batteries with a BMS?

You have selected a 24 hour time period which will cause averaging out of some of the detail. A shorter time period will show more detail.

If you have VRM, a graph showing state of charge (SOC) would help a lot.

This is a 12v AGM Car battery. I discharged it at 1.3A to 12V then started to recharge at 1A. The data looked like the picture below at one point but then something corrupted and a portion repeated in the graph above. As for missing data, this happens often. Short draws show up live but then disappear when I look at trends the next day which I don't like. Maybe there is limited memory and the devices overwrites data? Zooming does not help.screenshot-2.jpg

I think I understand the reason why data goes missing. It looks like data is stored with different frequency. Some points stored every 1sec, 30sec, 5min, and 30min. Data older then 1 day recorded once every 30min, so its lost if it was under 30min long and older then a day. I was planning to use the Shunt as logger but it not working out as I hoped.

Yes, data is averaged over longer time periods as it ages.

The pattern you see is from how the charger is behaving.

What charger are you using and what are its settings?

Thank you for trying to help me figure this out. I was using an 60w electronic dc load at 1.3a to discharge the battery to 11.98v then when it was done, switched on the Gophert nps-1601 to recharge the battery to 14.7v at 1a. I also have the Victron ip65 12v15a charger.

I assure you it has nothing to do with other equipment. This is a bug with the Shunt. Something happened to the data when it did the averaging and moving data back. Basically a portion of the same points recorded in two different areas. So we see a section of graph repeat that never happened in reality. So far this only happened once.
