Ok, converting my bank of 6- trojan t-105's to 2- 300AH LiFePO4. Obviously concerned with my alternator (70amp) output that currently goes to the Trojan bank. Because my Start battery (AGM) and Gen battery (AGM) are maintained by Blueseas ACR's from the house bank, will an Orion dc to dc 30amp non isolated from the alternator to the lithium bank work?
Personally I would always opt for an isolated unit, because it is safe in all 'non-silly' situations. Obviously non isolated units are cheaper and perfectly adequate in many circumstances.
Can you post a diagram? has everything got a common ground/neg now?
That said ... I don't know if bridging the Neg of an isolated unit could cause an issue... It shouldn't, but I guess that is an equally valid question if the unit is trying to do anything clever with insulation monitoring.
