I have simple flooded (not sealed) lead acid batteries, and I believe the default rotary switch postion (#2) is correct for these. But I wanted to ask to double check that the absorb/float and balance operations are being done correctly.

Please check the battery documentation for this, and check if the setting you want to use is good for it.
When in doubt, ask the battery supplier.
