Can I setup a BlueSolar 150/35 MPPT only by VE.Direct cable?

So I'll receive my 150/35 MPPT in a couple of days, rest of the setup will be later. I want to connect to the MPPT to see the configs and set it up and whatnot.

Question: if using a USB VE.Direct cable, will it power on the MPPT so I can access/set it or no? Cheers!

What is connected to the usb side of the ve direct to usb? And how are you powering it up? It won't power up through the ve direct, it needs either battery or solar.

Once it has an external power source, then with victron connect and a physical connection for comms you can configure it.

@Alexandra thanks for prompt answer.

I will connect the USB cable to my Macbook. So the USB in Mac and the VE.Direct connector to the 150/35 MPPT.

It will still need a power source like a battery.
