I am working on a vehicle fitted with 2 alternators: the first one charges the starting battery, and the second is dedicated to the house LifePO battery.
Is there any issues wiring the second alternator directly to the Orion XS that will control the charging of the lithium house battery, i.e with fused and appropriately sized cables but without an "intermediate" battery between the Orion and the alternator?

Battery-to-battery chargers like the Orion XS are designed to always have a battery on the input as a buffer; installation in any other manner is unsupported and may result in component or surrounding system damage, which would not be warrantable.
As with any electronic component and in particular high-current components, installation in accordance with the user manual is highly recommended.
