VE.Bus SOC stuck at 85%

Hi all,

I have had a problem for the last years with our systems SOC and made some progress, but could not resolve it completely, so any help is greatly appreciated.

As the title states, our VE.Bus SOC is stuck at 85% after absorptions stopped.

I'm fairly sure that it recognizes that Bulk has stopped, as the SOC jumps from something around 70% to 85% when the absorption voltage has been reached.

Insofar I was successful to implement the steps described here: https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/823/why-is-my-maximum-soc-stuck-at-85.html

Now the problem is that after jumping to 85% the systems SOC does not add anything up to the value defined in VE Configure, not by calculating nor by recognizing that the charger is in float mode.

The system is an offgrid-system,

Batteries 6x 2 V 800 Ah OPZS

BlueSolar Charger MPPT 150/70 (v1.61)

MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 (510)

CCGX (v3.22)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as our victron specialist is unresponsive and gave false and contradictory information. This is the last resort to have a somewhat reliable SOC.

Thanks!

Edit:

Today it seems to work, after it showed the behavior described above yesterday. I'm still puzzled about yesterday's display, I'll attach an image with relevant information.

I'll leave the post up for anybody having the same issue, as far as I understand I just had to wait one day.bildschirmfoto-2024-03-15-um-145931.png

I have a similar error with Pylontech. What helps is if I switch off the Multiplus-II and then leave it off for a few minutes, then the SOC quickly rises. GerboGX still connected with MPPTs, battery.

Pylontech provided newest firmware, scoured the logs I recorded and found no issues. Really good support.

Victron just blames Pylontech. Not what I expected.

I had exactly the same issue.

When you have Pylontech after 85-90% SOC the allowed current drops from 80A to 30A - making the subsequent charging much much slower (voltage sags from less current). This is because at 90% SOC Pylontech starts balancing.

3 Solutions:
1) Use a Smartshunt and set Voltage and Current in DVCC. (careful)
2) Use sceduled charging to top off the batteries to 100% overnight ONCE (to verify if you can get to 100%)
3) Live with it. Having the system use the batteries from 10-90% instead of 0-100 is actually better.

My voltage and SOC curve looks the same. It looks like 85-90% is a wall.

Hi,

With multiplus 24/5000/230 and 12 Opzs 2V, I had the same problem. I still could read the actual SOC on Dashboard, multiplus, detailed view. My installer advised me to go on loading, which I did with my generator (problems only arise when raining and preferably on fryday evenings), until batteries started boiling which means I was well over 100%. SOC showed back at 100%. I don't remember whether I cut off Multiplus after stopping the gen: fiddling with my system does not always allow to write down what is done.

Good luck

Lionel
