I am converting my 12V battery system to 48V with a Victron Multiplus II 120V 48/3000/35-50 With Lynx distributor and Victron SmartSolar charge controller MPPT 150/70 Tr.
The Multiplus manual recommends a 125A Mega fuse 48V - I can find those.
The Victron SmartSolar charge controller MPPT 150/70 Tr manual recommends a Mega fuse 80 to 100 A on the line from my battery pack, but I cannot find a <100A Mega fuse in 48 V - only found 32V fuses in that range.
What do you Victron experts do?
The midi fuses have 80A fusing. I know .... they don't fit in the lynx.
You don't have to stick to Victron fusing there are many other options out there. Check your local regs as well for compliance.
PS 80A is 80A in fusing unless for insurance reasons the writing must have 48v written on it, it will work correctly.
Yes ….but Victron doesn’t make 80A 58V mega fuses - Victron makes 80A 32V mega fuse which implies that Victron allows the use of that 32V fuse in a 48V system. Puzzling.

That's not the case.
Given that the 150-70 takes 2awg/35mm cable on the battery terminals, it would be safe to fuse with a 125a 58v mega fuse. The fuse on the Lynx is there to protect the cable, should it get damaged and short out.
The mppt has its own non serviceable fuse inside, should any thing catastrophic occur in the mppt.
I decided to take out the Lynx distributor and add T class fuse on the battery line to the 48V Multiplus.
I will add at least 70A ANL fuse on the battery line to the MPPT 150/70 - what wire gauge size would you recommend between the battery and the MPPT in this 48V system?
16mm² will work, up to 35mm² (AWG2) max.
I usually go middling with 25mm²
It does depend on the length to the battery/bus bar.
Length to battery is 8 feet
