Getting our MPPT RS 450/200 replaced and the dealer informed us the replacement will use MC4 connectors for the four trackers instead of the plastic connectors. Seems like an improvement if it makes those connections more reliable. Anybody have one of these new units? Any thoughts on the change?
I prefer MC4 for secure connections when crimped properly. MC4 connectors are typically rated for max 30A so well suited to the 20A short circuit current limit per string on the RS MPPTs. You wll also typically find MC4 on panels or variations thereof.
