Orion DC-DC charger remote switch voltage/amperage spike?

Orion DC-DC chargers: I've heard that instantly removing a load from an alternator can damage it and/or the vehicle's electronics. I like the option of wiring a switch to the remote on-off terminals. If I turn off the charger will that instantly remove that load from the alternator, thus possibly causing harm to my vehicle?

When properly wired to the start battery (NOT the alternator), the start battery absorbs that split-second spike and there will be no damage to the alternator.
