Can I replace an old PWM charger with MPPT

Hi, I have an old installation of lead-acid batteries (24V) being charged with a Plasmatronics PWM charger. The charger has started to malfunction somewhat so I am thinking about replacing it. Can I use an MPPT 100/50 as a direct replacement? re-wiring the solar panels to output a higher voltage is not an easy option. I'm reasonably confident the panel voltage will be >5V over the battery charge voltage, but will this be an efficient option? I would like to move away from PWM charging if possible.

Yes, but use the Victron online solar calculator to verify. You will need the full panel specs. If you can't find them online, there should be a sticker on the back of the panels with the details.
