I have 4 x 12v 100Ah sealed gel batteries in parallel and would like to run a Victron Phoenix inverter 12/1200. I understand they have an internal circuit breaker. Is it necessary to install a circuit breaker between the inverter and battery and what size would be best?
Yes, it's needed as close to the batteries as practical.
Better to use a fuse than circuit breaker.
There will be a fuse and cable specification in the manual. But 1200W at 12V is 100A. So you should cable for at least that and fuse accordingly.
