I came across an issue when looking at my monitor. Where the battery % should be it shows "--" What is the cause of this. I tried restarting.

Usually this value comes from a smart shunt or one of the Victron battery monitors. It will only appear if the battery has reached 100% charge since installation. There's a setting in the shunts/monitors to start at 100%, but it's misleading if your batteries aren't fully charged.
Might be worth checking the battery setup in the shunt/BMV. This could be wrong and preventing it recognising a full charge situation.
Leave the system on and charging. The value will start to display if things are correct.
I have seen something as simple as the VE.Direct cable came loose and fell out of the GX or battery monitor.
