Can I leave the battery charger always connected to a domestic
battery even when the charger is not plugged to 220v supply and
the car alternator is charging the battery ?
I am planning to buy a battery charger Blue smart IP65 or IP67.
In my Van I have two batteries (starter & domestic, both acid batteries)
connected through a Cytrix-ct-120 as described in the Cytrix datasheet.
Now I would like to add a battery charger, and leave it always connected
to the domestic battery, exactly as shown in the Cytrix datasheet.
The wanted result is :
- when stopped in a campground, the charger is plugged to 220v and
will charge the domestic battery and supply 12v to other loads in the Van
- when driving, the charger is not be connected to 220v, but still connected
to the battery. The cytrix will connect both batteries in parallel and both
batteries will be charged by the alternator
I know this schematic is in the Cytrix manual. But my understanding is that
for this to work the charger needs to have some built-in protection.
Is this the case with models Blue smart IP65 & IP67 ?
