BMZ ESS-X: change of "State of health" after CCGX firmware update 3.00

Hello,
here is running a four years old ESS with three Multiplus-II 48/3000/35-32 and a BMZ ESS-X battery controlled by a CCGX via CAN.
The "State of health" of the battery was displayed by the CCGX as 94 % during the last months.

Today I made a firmware update of the CCGX device from 2.94 to the recommended 3.00 (with no further change of settings). After update/reconnect the CCGX now shows an "State of health" 87 % for the battery. 7 % less in 2 minutes.

Why this jump? Any reason to worry?
Did you change the calculation routine in the new firmware?

The battery is located in the basement, actual temperature: 20°C, no problems, alarms, messages. Is it recommended to adjust any parameter because of battery aging (CVL=61,5 V, CCL=0 A, DCL=300 A, Min. SOC, voltage etc.)?

Best regards

@REL

SOH is a battery parameter that is usually reported by the battery itself. Weird that has changed.

SOH can go down for a number of reasons. One is not having a full charge for a while so cell balance is out further than normal.

It can be influenced by a good recharge and left at 100% SOC for a bit.

Generally speaking the capacity drop is what the manufacturer says will happen at the end of however much ebergy is moved in and out if the battery. Some manufacturers for example say after 10years you will have 80% left. So if you had 10kWh and you have run 5 of those, then theoretically you have 90% of your origional capacity. Only way to really know is do a full discharge to battery cut off at the rated C rate and recharge.

Operating temperatures and depth of discharge can influence it.

Hello Alexandra,

thank you for the hints.

After one day with fully charged battery, the status is the same.

"State of health" changed from 94 % to 87 % just in the moment, the firmware 3.00 was loaded followed by a reboot.

Maybe one of the people from the firmware team could tell his opinion?

Best regards
