This is a weird one.... Multiplus ii showing Bulk, but not charging?!?

So this is a weird one that i've not seen before. My Victron setup has been faultless, but this one has me stumped....

The install is on a live-aboard boat where we rarely plug into shore power. Today we came into a marina, I plugged in and the Multiplus ii is showing "BULK", but the batteries are discharging, rather than charging.

Shore power is working as you can see the passthrough.

We have 4 x Smart Lithium 160Ah batteries, i've checked them and they're showing balanced 13.26V.

What i'm not sure about is why the charger would be in bulk, but not actually charging the cells. Sorry if it's an obvious one, but I would expect the charger to go from Bulk, to Absorption and then to Float as it's done every other time we go in.

Any thoughts / ideas or words of wisdom welcome.

Thanks

casp.

Just occasionally this can happen There's a reset/restart option in the settings menu. Restarts the system and should clear it.

I have the same issue as the OP. Restarting the Multiplus II has not fixed the issue. Are there any additional thoughts?

Hi @MediaOne

Do you have an AC In limit?

In the OP case, if there is a 1.2kW AC In limit, then the whole energy goes to AC loads and there is nothing left for charging. And the battery is just discharging because it needs to supply the DC loads.

And, of course, based on SoC and voltage, the state of the charging is bulk, but will be charging when there is something available and then, obviously, it will be in bulk.

Alex

PS:

Nice one, the "Just occasionally this can happen Restarts the system and should clear it. ".

Like when a plane full of people went crashing and say "no problem, load the next one and way you go"... :-)))

Isn't desire for investigation to know why is this happening?

I do have a 10A input limit set, because I am a 110V boat on a 220v island at the moment, so I have a 1500w transformer on the shore power feed. My AC loads are currently 12W. The charger is technically operating; randomly putting between 0 and 7 amps on to the system. I can fire up a vacuum or other AC load on the boat and the Multi is able to pass the power for that without issue.
