I'm considering purchase of a Phoenix 12/1200 inverter for my sailboat. It is available with and without a GFCI protected outlet.
Can I wire a plug from the inverter into existing GFCI outlets on the boat? I've eliminated the shore power plug so there is no chance of backfeeding power to the inverter. As a matter of convenience wiring to the existing outlets eliminates running short extension cord across the salon.
If I can connect the boat outlets should I just use the GFCI on the inverter and change the outlet to standard household socket?
Or use the GFCI inverter and an additional GFCI outlet downstream?
Is there a better way to distribute power from the Phoenix 12/1200, or is there a product better suited for this application?
