Victron 100/30 mppt question

Just bought this device and was planning to use with 4 100w solar panels.

  • Max Power Output(W): 100W
  • Voltage MPP Vmp(V): 19.06V
  • Current MPP Imp(A): 5.26A
  • Voltage Open Circuit Voc(V): 21.82V
  • Short Circuit Current Isc(A): 5.55A

I wanted to know if I will be able to connect the panels series?

Depends on how cold it gets.

4 * 22V = 88V

(100-88V) / 88V = 13.6%

Your panel should have a Voc temp coefficient. Divide 13.6% by that value, e.g., -0.4%/°C

13.6% / -0.4%/°C = -34°C

Add -34°C to 25°C: 25 - 34 = -9°C

Your 4S array should remain under 100V until you reach -9°C.

If it's rarely/never that cold, or your panel temp coefficient is a smaller magnitude, 4S should be fine.
