Grid Setpoint 200 - 400w during ESS when set to 0

Does anyone know why the grid set point won't go to 0? I have the set point set to -50w but it does not make a difference

Set up:

1 x MPII 48/15000 - (Grid Code - Australia A AS/NZS 4777.2.2020 stand alone app (with N-bypass)

1 x MPPT 450/200

2 x SMA Sunny Boys AC Couples on the load side

Feed in is disabled for DC and AC

This is what it looks like most days

Have you checked the actual grid flow using a separate meter or smart meter? Do they agree with what you are seeing on Victron Connect? Mine doesn't, but isn't as far out as yours.

I am fairly certain it's either harmonics or power factor of the loads that throws the balance out, haven't yet been able to borrow any suitable equipment to test the theory, but it will happen at some point.

I see similar - the Grid total power is basically a fiction of some form, or it is not clear how it is being calculated. My grid setpoint makes no difference unless it is set very high or low. I have seen this since this latest system originally installed. Look at the highlight and you can see I was exporting 5.5kw whilst totally off-grid (!). 1675865934040.png

If I go back on-grid, then the calculation is also screwed:

Still pumping the same into the battery, solar PV unchanged, but for some reason it thinks I am exporting 4.1kw to the grid. I am not.

And just to finally illustrate the point, even the figures in the Grid box itself don't add up - 243v x 4.6A is not 34w... :)

And finally, I still have an SMA meter on this system from before. At the same time as exporting 3.7kW according to VRM, the real value is:

So, yeh... grid setpoint does not work, and I am sure it is tied to this problem somehow.

@Guy Cashmore and @mufassa

The weird part is that if I change the grid code to the older AS4777:2015 (which allows for grid export) it seems to hold the set point to 0w. So I can't help but think it has something to do with the grid code.

I do have 2 SMA inverters on the output side, which I can't turn on because the frequency shifting is responsive enough, @mufassa are you using frequency control to manage your SMA output?

@ross-skyenergy How did you go with the setup ? Did you resolve the dilema ? I'm assumig you were using an ESS with some form of Grid Meter or Current Sensor ? Please let us know your ESS settings and variables so we can get our heads around this for future reference. Thanks Ross ;)
