VE.Can RJ-45 extension

I have connected my MultiPlus Compact via VE.Can RJ-45 cable to the Cerbo GX and the cable is just 2-3 feet short. Can I extend the cable? I'm using a standard Rj-45 cable extender with an CAT 5 cable but it is not working. Do i need different wiring?

The MultiPlus does not connect to the VE.Can port, it needs to be connected to the VE.Bus port on the CerboGX.
An extender should work if it is mapped pin to pin, but I would not trust those things. Better will be to use a longer cable for reliability.
