I have a Smart Solar MPPT 150/100 and three each of the 415W solar panels. Now the panel has a rating of 50.41VOC, so does that mean connecting these 3 panels in Series is out of the question? three of these will make 151.23V which is obviously over 150V ? I'd like to keep these panel voltages as high as possible. The output will be 24V.
I have another setup using these same panels, where I have 6 of them on a MPPT 150/100. With this one I have 2 panels each in Series and 3 Parallels. I've used this system since summer of 2022 and the voltages never exceeded 99V. I'm in Japan and the temperature hovers around 0 degrees Celsius. Maybe the lowest it has got in my experience was -5.
Is it better not to take a chance and connect 3 of these in series? Do the 150/100 have a little leeway in terms of the max voltage. Is my only choice to go with the MPPT 250/75?
Appreciate your input.
