Configure two Multiplus-II as one Quattro-II to use generator backup function

Hello,

Can two Multiplus-II 's be configured as one Quattro-II, so I can use the ACin1 generator input and ACin2 for grid input, during the winter?

At the moment I use two Multiplus-II 's in a "2-phase 120" ESS system with one Cerbo, with a battery system (3x US5000 Pylontech). That way both Multi's can fully feed back to the grid in the summer when there is a lot of solar energy and the battery is 100% charged. This works great.

In the winter I want to use a 230Vac generator to charge my battery via one AC input while the other AC input stays on the grid of the system. Can I configure the system as one Quattro-II in the winter?

So I then have a "Summer" and a "Winter" setup.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks ,Theo

@Metz Producties it would be more cost effictive to buy a change over switch that switches the grid to another source, and then use a relay to activate the generator if the generator has automatic start & stop.

I know you are in the US but the below is an example.

Hello Jason,

(I'm not so good in the English language, I am in the Netherlands by the way)

I think it will work as you said, thanks for that!!

I will use a 3-phase change over switch and a 3-phase generator to feed my 2 phase Multiplus-II ESS system.

At this moment I use a ET340 meter for the grid. My plan is to use another ET340 for the generator. When I do this, how will this be visible in VRM?

Also I plan, in generator mode, to start/stop the generator on state of charge of the battery. (40% on / 90% off) via relay 1 from the cerbo. Then I have to set the minimum soc to about 95%, which is no problem during winter. Will the generator status be visible in VRM, or only in the advanced section via "relay state"?

How do I prevent not to feed back to the generator? ESS will do that only if the battery is almost full, but I'm not sure.

Are there other issues I will come against ?

Or: Do I have to buy two Quattro-II 's .....?

Thanks!

But then one of the two phase's is missing and the system does not accept it.

It will work if I have 3 phase generator.

Or am I wrong?

You can set up the Multis to work with only one AC input by turning off "switch as a group". So that one Multi will charge the battery and pass through power while the other multi inverts battery power to feed the other leg.

However, if grid and generator are both present at the same time, they will not be at the same frequency so it is likely that both inputs will be rejected.

Thanks!

I just tried this, VEconfigure comes with a grid code problem. Therefore I need a code, and i don't have that code.

Perhaps I can buy another charger,

Skylla-TG 48/25 (1+1)

Then this charger can directly charge the battery. Then start/stop the 230vac generator via generator relay output from the Cerbo, somewhere between 20 and 95%.

Is that an option?
