Raspberry Pi The very basics please

Hi all I'm looking at getting a Raspberry Pi but know nothing at all. ( Brain function and memory not great so as basic as posable please )

(1) Can i get a Pi and load Venus, and then connect a mppt etc and it works?

(2) Can i connect a bmv and 4 MPPTs at the same time? (All on the same battery bank)

(3) Will every mppt and bmv need a usb cable?

Ive seen a few youtube videos but not the best in trying to learn what and how to do it.

Really need a step by step guide.

Many thanks in advance

(1) Yes, just don't get a Pi Zero. Pi 2 or 3 should be fine. You can even install the Victron packages on Raspbian if you don't want to install Venus. I've accessed my MPPT through a USB-serial converter from minicom on my pi zero, works fine, but the Victron VeDirect software is not compiled for the pi Zero, so it fails.

(2) If you mean connect the MPPTs to the PI, yes, as long as you have enough USB ports to run USB-serial converters on

(3) Some MPPTs use VE.Can but I don't know anything about that, for MPPTs with VE.Direct you would require one connection per MPPT.
