Multiplus II & Generator

Please advise if the AC1 in on the multiplus II can be connected to a generator in case the normal utility supply is lost. The purpose would be to run a small generator in order to charge the ESS batteries if the PV array cannot supply the required power due to e.g. bad weather. If not is there another way to do a connection to use a generator to achieve said requirement. Maybe change configuration of multiplus II to achieve the objective

Yes AC1 in can be used for a Generator or Grid Power supplies, but not both at the same time,

you would need a change over relay or other kind of switch

One question that arises for a small generator, paired with a larger Multi, is where the multi is setup as an ESS, the ESS assistant seems to uncheck the "powerassist" mode. As such, for a large multiplus, setup as a backup/ESS on grid, where there is a transfer switch, the powerassist feature will be "off" (unchecked), such that the total available power would be only the generator limit, I think?

Would it be possible to check "powerassist" in VE configure, set to say it at 3.0 (even though the system is on grid/ESS), so that then when the small (say 2KVA) generator is used, at least then the much larger (say 5KVA) multi can assist with a bit more inverter power?

What is the reason that powerassist cannot be on when ESS is set?
