Pylontech Force L1 RS232 connection

Hello Community,

since August last year we run a 3 Phase Victron Multiplus II System with 3 Blocks of Pylontech Force L1 Batteries:

The System works but in the Cerbo the Battery shows wrong information:

We guess this is related to an older Firmware on the Pylontech BMSs. In addition we now (since 2 Days) get regular "Low Temperature Alarm" and "Internal failure" which went away after restarting the Battery Block. Since this morning this does not help anymore. The Failure is constant:

We would like to try a Firmware upgrade on the Batteries. We downloaded the Software Package from the Link in the Pylontech Facebook Group:

https://de-de.facebook.com/groups/300620224749566/

We Manufactured a RJ45 to Serial Cable, which works with Pylontech US2000C Batteries but we can't get a connection to the Force L1 BMS. Google shows a lot for the US2000C Series but nothing for Force L1. Regarding the RS232 connection we already wrote an E-Mail to service@pylontech.com.cn in April but never received a response.

Has anybody experience with Firmware upgrade or RS232 connection on Pylontech Force L1 Batteries and can provide a short guide?

Hi,

I had quite a bit of pain with the Force L2. It turned out to be the link cable between the stacks. Try a short (1 Metre) Sheilded patch cable between the stacks.

As for the Diagnostic cable whcih I was try to use to diagnose the issue I had the same problem. The cable I made up as per document Pylontech sent me it would only work with US200C not the L2. I have not confirmed this as I have not retried my original cable (as I got sent a genuine cable) but it seems the seriel/usb converter is very fussy on the Force L2's. I got sent the USB and the cable and it worked straight away.

Hi Micha,

It seems like a communication interference issue due to the RJ45 cable. Are you using the type-A cable to communicate the Force-L to the GX?

The difference between type-A and type-B is the grounding, and when the cable is long or it is being used in a RF environment, a wrong grounding could cause communication error.
