We had a 2hr network router problem. Other devices were connected but the Venus was not. I rebooted the router and the Venus after.
Data for the duration of the 2hr network problem was lost. Any idea what causes this data loss?

It can take a while for the data to upload once the connection is restored.
It can also be that the venus did not have enough internal memory. If you add a little SD card in it will solve further issues like that.

Thanks for reporting. Sorry to say that for this occasion the data is gone.
The expected behaviour is that it is stored on the GX device during an outage and then uploaded once it has re-connected - but in this case it didn't occur.
I would suggest following @Alexandra's suggestion, and inserting either a USB stick or microSD card.
If it keeps occurring after that, please report back again.
If anyone else is experiencing something similar, please report that also.
