at what percentage will my mppt 150 change charging from float to charge
currently battery's sitting at 28% and in float mode even when i connect generator still stays in float mode didnt think it was a good idea to let them get this low

Need more information here.
What battery do you have, what is its voltage? How are you measuring soc?
Voltage may be correct but soc could be incorrect.
the MPPT will not change based on SOC. it changes based on the battery voltage settings
