The Manual says "Mount the solar charger vertically on a non-flammable substrate, with the electrical terminals facing downwards."
Would it be ok if I mount it horizontally, on plywood, under the driver's seat? It would get plenty of ventilation.

It would be fine most times as long as there was air flow, as hot air rises its better that the fins follow the flow of air - having it mounted differently will affect the output as it may get hot and then derat
however if you add forced airflow then it should be fine
