Multiplus 12/3000/120 not accepting generator input

We are running a completely off grid system in our bunker/barndominium. We have solar and generator to charge the battery bank and a pair of multiplus 12/3000/120 running in parallel. We started out with just one and it was working well other then wasn't enough to power the well pump so had to use generator for water. Ordered second unit and wired them up. System ran great all night. This morning when we restarted the generator (honda eu7000is) the overload light came on and multiplus disconnected from generator. Double checked all setting and everything was as it had been last night. Tried different generator and same thing. AC input is set to 30a with dynamic current limiter active. Not getting any errors on multiplus that I can see. Dont have any display panel hooked up to multiplus, just using laptop. Why did it work fine last night and not this morning?

When on AC input, the inverters are in passthrough mode. They can be inverters, or they can be chargers - not both at the same time. When the generator is active, it's being passed through and powers your loads. It also charges if there is surplus.


If loads exceed the 30A limit, it will blow through the 30A limit. The only way around that is if you enable power assist. Power assist will use battery power/inverter to "boost" the AC input to prevent drawing more than 30A.


30A is PER INVERTER. If you have them both set to 30A, they will both draw 30A.


Recommend you lower the input limit to 25A and enable power assist on both inverters.


Also, review the charger output current and insure it doesn't exceed the input power.

Yes I know they go into pass through and charger comes on. It wouldnt allow it to go into pass through and would go to overload in generator. Power assist is enabled.

Our neighbors horse got out and we went to help catch it and when we got back it worked fine. Never changed anything it just started working. Have now been able to put the generator back on automatic control controlled by battery voltage and everything seems to be working perfectly so far.

Uncheck "UPS Function" in VE.Configure under the "GRID" tab.
