Good day,
We as the ‘Pakoil Denizcilik AS’ are the technical ship management which has seven vessels. The 24VDC Distribution systems have been charged by Victron skylla-tg battery chargers in parallel on our good vessels. One was adjusted to the permanent boost-charge mode as the Main the other was adjusted to the equalize-charging mode via the dipswitches as the Emergency. You may find the related drawings below. Our good vessels are around thirteen years old and we replace the batteries every four years. We realized that the actual batteries are lead-acid type during the inspection. However, the Victron user guide warns that “do not permanently boost-charge sealed lead-acid batteries”. For this reason, we would like to have technical support from you about which mode should be set on the chargers to avoid an explosion of the batteries.
Could you please advise us which mode should be set on the chargers to be charged properly for the lead-acid batteries?
Thanks in advance for your invaluable assistance.
